Free Time Over Thanksgiving?

Rate this Entry
If you have some free time this weekend (or any time), there are a couple sites on the Web that let you donate food to starving countries for free. All they ask is that you visit - you don't have to buy anything. (And NO, neither of these is a scam or joke.)

The first and most well-known is The Hunger Site. Just click the big button and a donation is made. After clicking you see ads from the site's sponsors. You are not required to click on those ads (but you should if they look interesting because it keeps the advertisers' interest nice and strong). You could bookmark this as your home page. It has been working for years now.

The other site is new and developed by the same author. But this one is interactive and fun! You can test your vocabulary. It will present you with a word and you click one of the definitions you think is correct. It is called Free Rice. They donate 10 grains of rice for each answer you give. And they are not easy, so it's a good challenge!

If you are in doubt about either of these sites, you can check them out on snopes.com, which is an Internet resource to check on some of the forwarded emails you get, etc., that may turn out to be false. See what they say about Free Rice and The Hunger Site.
