Just a few months ago I reviewed an exciting new tuba recording (part of a project, actually) called One Clear Call. The artist, Nick Etheridge, has released a sample of volume two. Here is his press release (scroll down for the sample MP3).


One Clear Call is having great success and has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2008 ITEA Roger Bobo Award for Excellence in Recording along with Portuguese tubist Sergio Carrolino! Classic FM magazine gave it a 4 star review, saying "astonishing virtuosity in this programme with a difference"



The new track is from The Return of The Band from Uncle Suite for Big Band and Tuba which will form part of my next album, due out by the end of this year. Other tracks featuring on this album include the cult classics: The New Avengers; Are You Being Served; and Popcorn which includes 6 Tubas and Stylophone!! Sheet music and play along tracks will be freely available in the next few weeks for Tuba Karaoke: including Kojak; Teen Town; . My arrangement of Shostakovich Prelude No 2 and The Green Hornet is already available and a challenge to anyone.



In July I will be recording a fantastic commission from Tom Harrold, winner of the BBC Prom Young Composer of the Year in 2007 called "Beastie" for Marimbas, Xylophone, Drums and Tubas, plus a newly composed Chamber Symphony from Simon Wills
